BTW | SHOW - Enlighten Studios - Creating Beautiful Hair Architecture

Steven:  So what can you do ahead of time so you can have a plan.  Are people's hair ready right away or what's the process for that?

Yvonne:  Well I may or may not be ready right away.  It might be ready if it has enough hair, well you want this look that's long and needs lots of hair, great!  Are you going to grow it out? What your plan with your hair?  Obviously it's your hair do what you want with it.  But I will suggest maybe you do this or don't do this or what not, whatever it is for them.  Then if they way "well my wedding is in 6 months but I really want this long hair". Well we're gunna have to discuss extensions cause that's not going to happen in 6 months.

S:  For sure.  But you can plan out people's hair a little bit.

Y:  Oh for sure!  Exactly!  And I say "Ok wel your hair is really heavy and so we're gunna need to get these cool things called a donut," and it's not the one that you eat.  But it looks like a sponge and it adds volume to the hair.  I know that when I'm working on someone's hair I know what I'm going to need to add to make it look like it's more.  So then I take photos and kinda do a rough draft of the architecture.  Then I ask them "Do you like this over here?  Do you want it more this way?  Do you want more pieces down?"  So on and so forth.

S:  So you actually catalogue the look.

Y:  Correct

S:  So that way when it comes down to them getting their hair done on the wedding day, you have a reference file you are working with.

Y:  Yes I take so many photos front, back, side, and I take all those photos on my iPhone and create an album for them and I have notes that I take for them.  I have a bride called Meg that has a wedding coming up and I know she needs a donut.  I know that I need more golden Bobby pins for Megan cause she's a redhead, need donut possibly get two.  I have all my notes and I study those photos a week out before their wedding and I'm like, "This is what we're going to do here, this is what we're going to do there."  And then that way I go into their location, cause usually were doing it wherever their getting married, we take all this stuff and pack it up and I know exactly the stuff we're using for Meg's hair so then I go BAM and we just get started.
